started drinking coffee at arizona state after reading a biography on vince lombardi, which said he had a never failing routine of having a cup of coffee and a hamburger for lunch every afternoon - it just reads so well !

hmm since the legendary coach lombardi died of colon cancer after president nixon called and told him the 'whole u s a was behind him', (which is probably where he least wanted us), giving up the burgers appears to be the discretion which is the better part of valor

why did all of you want to play football ?



it is not really a fun sport, it mostly involves violence and appears quite dangerous



the work and training involved even at the amateur level are usually harder than most blue collar jobs, including the military



i know why i wanted to play football in hs:






dad pitched semi-pro and american legion baseball for 26 years



he and mom typed up a list of things to help a person to become a better pitcher, but i've lost it and only remember some of the things after falling off a roof and getting amnesia



the good thing about that is at least i still remember i once had amnesia



one of the things on the list that proved very valuable was practicing doing fingertip pull-ups on a door jamb



it helps in baseball because it gives a pitcher more spin on fastballs, curves and sliders, which creates more movement as the baseball travels to the plate - but after watching this video on spiral rotation i realize fingertip pullups are essential to increasing velocity and accuracy in passing a football also







i remember having a difficult time doing any pull ups - had to start by just hanging by my fingertips for an inreasing number of seconds



later tho, i found them more fun and challenging than regular pull ups on a pull up bar







tho coaches, journalists and enthusiasts will tell you football is about teamwork, discipline, following orders, enjoying pain, adhering to rules and respecting authority, the truth is far more simple



we played football to get a girlfriend (s), who often desired to instill in us the same qualities as the coaches, journalists and enthusiasts did



never lose sight of the big picture goalposts

this was after the era of the punt, pass and kick competitions and the superstars competitions



i just looked and randall cunningham allegedly has the record for the longest thrown football pass at 76 yards at a quarterback challenge in ... 1993
