one of my first memories of school was getting on the bus for the first time, tripping and an older girl said 'have a nice trip see you next fall!'
i realized this was not a nice world
eventually one of the kids the same age as me let me sit with him
suddenly i felt safe
but then my seat partner asked me if i wanted to come to his house to play and that would have been fine all us kids in my class used to visit each others' homes our parents would bring us and pick us up...it seems odd now i dont know if the kids today still do that
but he said if i didn't go visit his father said we couldn't be friends
i said no, from my first feeling of paranoia
then we sat in different seats
from what i've recently found out we both might have been correct to instinctively be so suspicious
the town had much more history occuring as we were growing up than it could seem possible to a kid at that age
and it might not only be that town, but every town may have these unsecret secrets hidden by polite discretion but not by the internet
you could really tell a great story today utilizing this new connectedness
imagine if we were all slueths searching and sharing the things we learn
sharing the beauty and warmth of our nations instead of the embittered rhetoric so commonly found
finding benevolent solutions to problems that have violently and unfairly plagued our histories and lives

joey's wife juliana used to run track or more accurately joey ran track as joey and juliana swapped their names when they were married - juliana/joey was really fast and did the long jump if i recall and the reason i'm posting about deidre is because of coach al's fb post - which was taken down, about dr thomas price, who lived on water street and because his son tommy was friends with jon vankin and possibly david lobdell we had found out david probably wasnt scott but david bears an uncanny resemblance to fabian niceiza and scott had written generation x about emma frost's school in the berkshires, which eventually became the xavier school for gifted youngsters after the one in westchester county ny was destroyed
my memory is spotty
met a charming pair who said they were brother and sister musicians in seminole florida at a bus stop once and they asked me why
i told them 'i forget'
then i remembered: i had fallen off a roof and gotten amnesia, and they laughed
it was funny because it was true !
when we were very young our moms used to drop us off at daycare at mrs couture's house where alex, juliana the rooneys and i would eat spaghettios take naps and play but i could never find the house i remembered staying at when our late bus went along north hoosac road as i grew older
i finaly found out why - the gravel driveway had been replaced by asphalt and that was the driveway i fell onto, creating this part of the story:
i met dr price when he was building the deck around his house because tommy used to play with us when we were all children and i remember dr price as looking just like the guy who played the father on the waltons
which is interesting now to me because ralph waite, the actor who played the walton's dad, was a social worker 😯

dave could have verified my subjective and usually inapproriate description of a person's appearance, because both juliana and deidre were stunningly beautiful and i only mention it after reading today the wiki page of the name deidre
i remember being in the 7th or 8th grade and thinking the name deidre was a famous greek or roman mythological name that ms luney, ms dubois, ms guild or mr fernander had taught us
i had actually begun to consider that deidre not only appeared to be, but actually may have been a famous goddess, because she had an inner glow or strength or beauty - whatever it was - while holding her gaze true and level
as she competed or entered and exited the bus it seemed as if we were allowed a vision of a better world
only to discover today that the story of deidre is that of a legendary irish heroine from the ulster cycle
